Building a Sustainable Future

Sustainability Initiatives

The plumbing industry plays a vital role in promoting sustainability by implementing various practices that conserve water, reduce energy consumption, and minimise environmental impact.  Here are some sustainability practices we undertake:

  1. Water-efficient fixtures:  Install and promote the use of water-saving fixtures such as low-flow toilets, aerated faucets, and efficient showerheads.  These fixtures reduce water consumption without compromising performance.
  2. Leak detection and repair:  Regularly inspect plumbing systems to identify and fix leaks promptly.  Even small leaks can waste significant amounts of water over time, so timely repairs are essential for water conservation.
  3. Greywater systems:  Advocate for the use of greywater systems, which collect and treat water from sources like sinks, showers and laundry machines.  This treated water can be reused for non-portable purposes such as toilet flushing or irrigation.
  4. Rainwater harvesting:  Encourage the collection and utilisation of rainwater fro non-potable applications.  Rainwater can be collected from rooftops and stored for irrigation, or other non-drinking water needs.
  5. Energy efficient pumps and systems:  Promote the use of energy-efficient pumps, circulators, and heating systems.  These technologies minimise energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with water heating.
  6. Insulation and pipe lagging:  Ensure proper insulation and lagging for hot water pipes to prevent heat loss during transportation.  This reduces energy waste and improves the efficiency of water heating systems.
  7. Education and awareness:  Educate customers, contractors, and employees about sustainable pumbing practices.  Provide information on water conservation, leak detection, recycling of materials, and the benefits of energy-efficient fixtures.
  8. Recycled materials:  Encourage the use of plumbing products made from recycled materials, such as pipe and fittings.  Promote recycling through suppliers such as Marley Aliaxis.  This reduces the demand for new raw materials and supports a circular economy.
  9. Proper waste disposal:  Implement responsible waste management practices, including the proper disposal of hazardous materials, such as chemicals and solvents.  Promote recycling through suppliers such as Marley Aliaxis for PVC, cardboard, metal and copper.
  10. Substainable business operations:  Optimise supply chains, reduce packaging waste, and invest in renewable energy sources.
Our strategic plan includes replacing suitable vehicles with Hybrid, solar energy, recycling program, and changing all lighting to LED.
